I, Clocks, am Timelord Extraordinaire for the Realm of AVATAR.

Throughout history, the chaotic strands of time have conspired to empower a lone figure in each realm so that the balance that time creates may endure. This figure is forever charged with maintaining that balance, bound to form and protect this balance at all times.

Long ago in the Realm of AVATAR, the chaos strands chose a lone and relatively insignificant Halfling Ranger by the name of Clocks to help protect the Realm of AVATAR as it transitioned from a passed TimeLord that had been corrupted as Farside was fading away. Slowly learning the ways of the adventuring ranger, Clocks was soon challenged by the ancient magic of a land called the Shire. Eternally pursued by a wizard named Gandalf and his young charge, Frodo, Clocks became embittered, angry at his plight and the pressure of controlling the balance of time in this new realm. The power of the Halfling Ranger waned quickly, soon purged from time and space.

Not long after, the soul of Clocks (preserved by the Chaos Strands that had empowered him) was cast by fate into the realm in the form of a Lizardman Ranger. Alas, Clocks found himself free of the hobbit fur, yet imprisoned in a tough hide of scales with the weight of primordial balance on him yet again. Over a year, Clocks adventured against wildlife, hobbit, orc, goblin, human, and elf alike: all those who stood in the way of balance. The skills of the ranger were found within this new body and the realm had found a new Hero! The hero clocks! Yet the immortals could not allow such a victorious one to come to pass. The powers granted from the realm stripped the pangs of hunger and thirst, forever limiting the role of those who would adventure as rangers. Yet again, the mortal that the chaotic strands of time had entrusted with power over the realm had been challenged and fell prey to grand designs to strip his mortality bare of purpose and usefulness. Clocks once again left the strands of time and passed out of through and knowledge.

In a time, now long ago, violence threatened to destroy the plane of Midgaard and the Chaos strands found that a warrior was needed again! The soul of Clocks was given a third chance, the time to prove his power, valor, and trust! In the guise of a Centaur Warrior, slow and sure this reborn warrior sallied forth into the realm, exploring and conquering the weak and distrustful, showing mercy on those new to the realm and in great need.

The vortex of time had at last found its lord of protection!

Heroed soon, Centaur Clocks began to assist groups of those of like nature, soloing in adventures of knowledge and power, questing for strength balanced by experience. The realm still yet benefits from that protector of balance, the story of the TimeLord Clocks continues....

Although no longer involved as I once was, I play multiple charachters on the AVATAR MUD. Avatar MUD is a text-only role playing system which allows more than a hundred players to interact in a virtual text-driven world at any given time. AVATAR stands for Advanced Virtual Adventures Through Alternate Realities, and it really is.

Though MUDs in general have gone by the wayside over the years, AVATAR still maintains an active player and immortal design base. The areas in the game are almost entirely original as is the codebase which is used to power the game. If you are looking for a place to enjoy some RPG-type gaming, enjoy a look at the "old school" games of yesteryear, or just enjoy a place to be someone else, I certainly urge you to check out avatar.
