One Must Fall:2097 was an old DOS game released by Epic Megagames back in the heyday of shareware. Developed by Diversions Entertainment (at the time, a sort of one-man-band development house comprised primarily of Rob Elam), this 2D side scroller would go on to sell more than 10,000 copies world-wide and find an induction into the GameSpy Hall of Fame.

Within a couple years after the game's release, Epic decided to concentrate nearly exclusively on its first party Unreal games and would not allow the Unreal engine to be released to other Epic game projects. This, in addition to other things, saw DE and Epic Megagames to an amicable separation which put this game into freeware status for even more players to enjoy.
